This is a case study of a previous applicant:
“The Elmham School House and Land Charity Fund has helped me massively with my academic career. I was lucky to be given the opportunity, as part of my university course, to live and study in Tokyo at a Japanese university for one year. Although I was excited for this opportunity, as someone who comes from a working-class background, I was also concerned, as I knew Japan and specifically Tokyo, was an expensive place to live.
Just one example of how the Fund has helped me is my daily commute to university by train; a necessary expense which on its own will reach several hundreds of pounds for the year. Hence, I am extremely grateful to the Fund and its Trustees for supporting me during my time abroad. The Fund has greatly helped to release some of financial strain of living abroad, and has allowed me to better focus on my studies and really make the most of the opportunity I was given."
Other students have received assistance to buy necessary equipment including assistance towards purchasing a computer, books etc. and travel assistance for educational trips.
